Welcome to the King’s Arms

Loved by Oxford scholars and tourists alike, renowned for fine cask ales, hearty homemade food and our resident ghost. Come down and join us this season to dine off our seasonal menu and enjoy your favourite tipple in Oxford’s best pub.

Food & Drink

Tuck into the good stuff - seasonal dishes and proper British classics (with a few surprises along the way). Whether it’s a hearty breakfast, a light lunch, or a pub dinner that hits the spot, we’ve got you covered.

Perfect Sundays

Sunday in the pub is like a big old hearty hug. Spicy Bloody Marys making memories with friends and loved ones. Oh and not forgetting a damn good roast.

Summer Spritz

A line-up of bright, refreshing spritzes oh-so-perfect for soaking up Oxford from the best seat in the city. One tends to lead to another (as they do).

Oxford’s most loved local

Welcome to the famous King’s Arms – Oxford’s oldest pub, built back in 1607 and still standing proud in our original spot. We’ve seen a fair bit of history in our time, and we’re rumoured to be the brainiest pub in the city too (they once said we had the highest IQ per square foot in the world… clever stuff, eh?).

These days we’re still a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re after a proper pint of real ale, a winter-warming tipple, or one of our hearty Sunday roasts with all the trimmings, we’ve got you covered – always using the best of British seasonal ingredients.

Bank Holiday Weekend = Pub

Good Friday 3rd April – Bank Holiday Monday 6th April

Spring has sprung and Easter weekend is the perfect excuse to gather at the ours.

Join us for long lunches, crisp pints, great food and plenty of good company.

Whether it’s a relaxed catch-up with friends or a proper Sunday roast with the family, we’ll be your bank holiday highlight.

Proper Pub Brekkie

We’re firing up the kitchen from 9am, serving a our hearty breakfast menu Monday to Saturday, 9am until 12pm. Whether you’re up with the sun or rolling in for a lazy brunch, we’ve got you covered.

Tuck into a proper full English, or grab a smoked bacon, lettuce & tomato brioche bun, an absolute crowd-pleaser! Pair it with a fresh coffee (or maybe something stronger), and you’re all set, no better way to start the day.

Summer Spritz Season

Some places are made for quiet drinks. This isn’t one of them.

Right in the heart of Oxford, our spritzes are made for lively afternoons, people-watching, and rounds that don’t quite stop where you thought they would.

Grab a spot out front, order something bright and refreshing, and see how the day unfolds (good luck keeping it to one).

Watch the World Cup 2026 in Oxford

Join us at the King’s Arms as the world’s biggest football tournament takes centre stage this summer. We’ll be showing all England matches live, plus the crucial knock-out games as the drama unfolds.

Expect cold pints, great food and a pub full of fans living every moment together. If history happens, you’ll want to say you watched it here.

Could this be our 1966?

Gift of the Pub

If you’re searching for that perfect present, or can’t decide what to gift a loved one, colleague or friend, why not treat that special someone to the gift of the pub. That way they can choose their own feel-good experience, whether it be a monetary voucher to spend at their favourite pub or an indulgent getaway experience to one of our Young’s pubs with rooms.
